Is one of the characteristic features of this breed (1); very short and dense over the entire body; in the middle of the back, from the loins to the shoulders, the hair forms a long spike whose long, thick points are turned towards the dog's head.

Fawn red with a black mask; the fur on the ears is a darker shade.

Approximately 55 centimeters.

Approximately 18 kilograms.
From Phu-Quoc Island."
"(1) Author's Note – Having judged this breed in Antwerp, the absolutely abnormal direction of the hair on the back is striking; I know of no breed of dog whose hair grows this way."

"'Annamite' and 'Kratie'"
"Belonging to the Jardin d'Acclimatation in Paris. (Engraving taken from the Journal Le Chenil.)"

[1] extraordinary breath : likely in reference to the dogs' great stamina while hunting/running/trotting.

[2] wrinkled skin : likely in reference to the way their skin wrinkles on the forehead when focused.

[3] Red : More than likely meaning "reddish" or dark brown with red tones.

[4] widely open : In reference to the width of the chest being quite open, wide compared to other sighthound types.

[5] Quite elongated : Referring to a "hare" or "oval" shaped foot as opposed to "cat" feet. PQR feet tend to be on the longer, flatter side (similar to a typical sighthound" as opposed to tight and round, as seen in Dobermans or Poodles.
